Pull — attraction
An attractor is a decision about where the eye should end up. We place the destinations; ten thousand particles negotiate the routes. Every route is different. Every arrival is the same.
A studio for composed chance
One of 4,294,967,296 possible works, generated in your browser the moment you arrived.
The premise
Aleatory is a generative art studio. We compose the conditions — fields, forces, palettes, weights — then hand the final decision to a number nobody chose. The work above was computed in your browser from a seed drawn the moment you arrived. Leave, and it will never render again.
Method — how chance is composed
Every Aleatory system is written with the same three words: something that pulls, something that pushes, and the drift between them. Each canvas below is live. Put your cursor in it.
An attractor is a decision about where the eye should end up. We place the destinations; ten thousand particles negotiate the routes. Every route is different. Every arrival is the same.
Negative space is composed, not found. A repulsor clears the field the way silence clears a room — what the work refuses to touch becomes its subject.
Curl noise is the mathematics of smoke: flow that bends forever and never collides. It is what chance looks like once it has been made differentiable.
Editions — the archive
A composition is developed for ninety seconds, exported once, and retired. The seed number is the certificate: anyone holding it can resummon the work, but the print is the moment it was caught. Click a print to prove it.

Studio
Aleatory composes generative systems for identity, print, façade, and screen. We treat randomness as a material — like oak or ink, it has a grain, a temper, and a right way to be cut. Left raw, it produces noise; composed, it produces work that surprises even its authors, on schedule.
The studio's output is deliberately small: a handful of commissions a year, each one a system that will never repeat itself and never needs a refresh, because it refreshes itself.
Commissions open twice a year. Write us one sentence about the thing that should never look the same twice — commissions@aleatory.studio
